The Paper Trail follows a single traded asset across seasons: what the player (and every pick or player wrapped into the deal after him) produced for both clubs, until the desk can declare an analytical winner. It is built on the league's recorded transaction wire — and the honest state of that wire today is:
Recorded trades: the ESPN pull of Oct 30, 2026 records ZERO completed trades in the Kingdom's 2026–27 season, and no trade tree exists to map. The tracker below is the working framework — the moment a trade is recorded on the wire, its asset tree opens here with the points both sides got from the deal, week by week. Nothing is back-filled or invented.

The ticker translates the league's recorded transaction log into drama — from the log, never instead of it. With zero recorded transactions, the ticker has nothing honest to dramatise:

Every pair of front offices starts the season at Day 0 of the Cold War: with no recorded deals league-wide, no pair has traded yet — that is the whole ledger, and it starts counting the day the first deal lands.
Embargoes are league-office rulings; none has been issued or recorded. The matrix ships empty by fact, not by omission:
